As a wildlife artist J. F. Schoonover combines several artistic skills to take the art form of leathercraft, leather tooling and embossing to a new level. Each 3D wildlife picture is meticulously hand painted after all the sculpting, embossing, and carving have been completed.
The eyes in each wildlife picture look alive from all angles.
"It’s all in the eyes. Until I finish hand painting the eyes, the animal doesn’t look alive. The finished eyes add a ‘spark of life’ to the picture," says Schoonover.
The animal pictures displayed on this website include his award-winning grizzly bear pictures, a unique bald eagle picture, fish pictures, other wildlife pictures, and commissioned pet portraits.

Most of the art work pictured is available for immediate shipment. Any item that is not immediately available when ordered will ship as soon as it is completed. You will be promptly notified of the expected ship date. Because each 3D picture takes many hours to complete, you will also receive a series of digital images allowing you to see your wildlife picture or pet picture at various stages as it is being created. We will also enclose a CD-Rom with your art work containing a complete collection of digital images captured during its creation.
